I just wanted to send an email to give a huge Kudos to you and your staff at On Side that recently helped me when the unit next door to my store flooded. Everyone who helped on the job was very professional, very friendly and understanding, and were very hard workers. For you to be here so quickly on that day was a sense of relief, arriving with your crew only minutes behind, and a POD in the parking lot within 35 minutes…amazing!

The crew of ladies who came to help pack up the first day were clearly exhausted from already being at a house fire in Camrose, but stayed until almost 1a.m. without a complaint, and packed everything very well. Tara was very on top of everything, and explained the process to me very clearly.  The guys who helped with the returning of the

displays and product boxes into the store were freezing cold, but never complained or rolled their eyes at me as I directed where the boxes went in the store!  They cleaned the carpet, and all is basically restored to "normal"! It is nice to see that when life is disrupted by unfortunate events, there is a company of people that understands the nature of their business and makes life a little easier on the person or business that has been affected.

Thank-you for all of your help, and the help of your staff!  I would hope that I never had to, but would highly recommend On Side Restoration!

My wife and were very happy with the two fellows who came and installed the hardwood and carpet in our condo.  They were very professional in their approach, and workmanship.   I was very pleased when they came and worked with us in where to store the hardwood, and worked with us in getting the job started on the right foot.  They also worked with us as we needed to move the furniture from room to room so they could work in the cleared room.

They were very professional in the laying of the hardwood and carpet.  There work was very exact.  They did some little extras (at least we thought they were) to make a good job even better.

Their clean-up was wonderful.  They cleared away all the old carpet and debris after they finished the job, even the hallways were clean.

We would recommend these two if you are wishing to have work done in your home.

You may recall that I was scheduled to leave on vacation at the time of the problem occurred and was somewhat apprehensive whether the repairs would be done satisfactory. I just wanted to send a note thanking you and On Side Restoration for looking after us through what could have been a nightmare experience.  From the very first visit by Brian to the last call by yourself Maggie and I did not have to worry about a thing.  You folks took control all the while being sensitive to our needs and feelings.  All the trades people assigned to our home were personable, professional and skilled.  They always introduced themselves, told us what they would be doing, and checked with us to see if we were satisfied with the job they were doing.  At no time did we ever feel uncomfortable with the people in our home or worry about the quality of the work they were doing.  In fact, it feels as though we are living in a new home as a result of the restoration work done by your crews.

It is interesting to note that in conversations with other people they too have very good things to say about On Side Restoration.  When my bank advisors asked about the restoration work I told them about how pleased we were with On Side.  They told me that they too had heard from other clients how good your company is and how well you look after your clients.   In another discussion with a young lady who manages apartment buildings she too said she only uses On Side because of the quality of work and the professionalism of the workers. 

Please pass on our heartfelt appreciation to all the folks who worked so hard to make our house a home again. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone, but I will certainly continue to recommend  On Side Restoration to all the folks I know.

I say this sincerely with all my heart....I've been blown away by the wonderful people that have been sent my way.  These people who have done the work are incredible people in sooooo many ways.  I'm very inarticulate and just know I'll miss telling you all the great things about what I've experienced in this last week or so, but here are a few words.     Firstly, they are were all so personable, so kind, so diligent, very hard workers.  Hey, this isn't even scratching the surface! 

I'm talking first about Shawn M. who has been here the longest.  I'm using that word again but he is an incredible employee On Side has.   He puts your mind at ease, he explains all that's happening; the why's and how's, always open for questions.   He has a very good attitude and positive demeanor about him.   He is very respectful, a tremendously hard worker, does his job well, and....I'm just at a loss for words.   Really, I mean that!   And it's so hard to single Shawn out, because 'everyone' has been excellent; in their work and what counts first - making the 'customer' totally at ease and assured they're working well for you.  

Brigitte D. has worked alongside Shawn for a few days and wow! What a worker with tremendous qualities.   Saturday, an Eric V. and Shirley H. were here helping Shawn and it was such a joy watching them work so quickly and hard, as well as making you feel so comfortable around them… "Hold on to these very good people in Shawn and Brigitte because they're excellent!"   And you know what is neat?   I'm sure they're not realizing it, but they have shared how happy they are to work for On Side, proud of the company they know does excellent work ... and to help people.   Now that's huge!

I’m not in the habit of giving testimonials but a recent gut wrenching experience compels me to write about the situation and to compliment ON SIDE RESTORATION which helped relieve a lot of the pain.

It’s every homeowner’s worst nightmare – a pipe  breaks in the wall and the water  completely floods the basement – in some spots it’s 2-3” deep. It’s 10:30 PM. The sinking feeling is indescribable.

I call my neighbor Nick to borrow a shop vac, stupidly thinking I can fix this myself. He’s been in this situation before and quickly informs me that I need professional help. He opens the yellow pages, scanning the 3-4 pages of ads.  He remembers using ON SIDE, mentioning  that they have a good reputation in the industry.

I call their number nervously thinking I might not reach anyone at this hour. A prompt reply  reminds me that  this is an emergency business. The person who answers, Iris,  asks the appropriate questions about source of damage, area, safety issues, etc. She says she’s going to dispatch someone immediately and that person would call me back shortly.

 

Time seems to stand still in these emergencies. After about 20 minutes, I call back worried and upset. I’m assured again calmly that someone’s coming.  Shortly thereafter, I receive 2 calls, one from Tim, the technician, who says he’ll be there within the hour. Another call comes from Grant, a concerned manager who is empathetic about the delay and continues to reassure me.  Tim arrives in half an hour.

 

After an anxious start,  I’m quickly reassured by the level of Tim’s experience and competence. He springs into action with an array of heavy machinery sopping up all the water from the carpet in the bedroom and the linoleum in the rest of the suite.  I have a myriad of questions about the level of damage and what it takes to repair. It’s clear that Tim knows his stuff . I find out that there is a careful game plan to approach the problem in stages, very deliberately to keep the repair costs down, ie, the source of the damage is a broken pipe in the wall. Tim says that they won’t tear out either the carpet or the drywall, before seeing if it can dry on it’s own.

 

Tim calls in a colleague, Jeff, who arrives with the fans and the dehumidifiers. He efficiently identifies all the damaged walls with an electronic meter that measures moisture and marks the baseboards with blue masking tapes to save time for the returning repairmen.

 

One problem was how to dry out the concrete under the linoleum which is loose lay – not glued down. Tim adapts a fan with a large plastic bag which he forces underneath an opening in the linoleum. The fan forces the air to lift the linoleum – the floor is now floating, allowing the air underneath to dry the concrete. It was something Tim had never done before with this product. I later find out that Tim is known for his creative solutions to problems. I am impressed.

To Whom It May Concern, 

My name is Vicki N. and I would like to share my experience with On Side Restoration.  

My fiancé and I were devastated when our home was flooded from an unexpected sewage flood. There was a pipe defect in the building and the sewage was not draining properly. It was the 3rd flood in our unit. Unfortunately, our place was overflowing with sewage and it was very traumatizing, to say the least.  

Not to mention, it happened the night before New Year's Eve.  

When On Side came, they were extremely professional.  Jay came to our place right away and was so friendly and organized.  He took care of things right away and we were so impressed at how quick he was to get things moving.  

The girls that came the next day to help pack up were amazing.  They were all very compassionate about our situation and were very sensitive to our needs and our emotional state.  The girls even encouraged us to keep our New Year's plan to leave town and reassured us that everything would be taken care of.  It was because of their sincere reassurance that we were able to still enjoy part of New Year's Eve that night.  

It was a stressful time for us, and I felt even more stressed thinking about strangers coming in to pack our personal belongings.  It was a feeling that I was not used to and I wasn't sure how it was going to go.  However, the ladies that came to help us were so pleasant.  They were exceptionally efficient and quick.  They didn't waste any time and just started working right away.  They even gave us a moment when I broke down and started to cry.  They went outside to let Colin and I discuss things and just absorb what was happening.  I really appreciated their sensitivity at that moment. 

Everything was done professionally and we were so thrilled with the work On Side did. Not just the physical things, like moving and packing and installing the floors, but even the emotional support and understanding that they gave to us. 

The second set of ladies that came to help us move back in and unpack were also amazing.  They did a phenomenal job and even helped to CLEAN our home before the boxes arrived.  I was absolutely stunned by their willingness to help with things that were not even asked of them.  

All the On Side workers we encountered were extremely polite, professional and genuinely caring. Even the young men that came to move the furniture in were polite and friendly. I told them all that it really made a difference to us.  Having to deal with the flood and having to be displaced from our home for almost three months was such a hard time for us.  However, the ease and comfort that On Side brought during this time was priceless.  We felt very secure and trusted On Side completely.  It really took a lot off our minds to know that our things and our home were in good hands. 

Everything was packed SO carefully!  When we moved back in and started unpacking, we couldn't help but notice how nicely everything was wrapped up.  Everything was cushioned by papers in the boxes and it showed us that the workers really respected our things and took the time to make sure each item was securely padded.

I would really like to say a big thank you to ALL the people that were involved in our flood.  

Jay was a fantastic Project Manger overseeing all the things that needed to be done...  I was so shocked by his kindness!   We really, really appreciate and recognize his good act and would like On Side to acknowledge this as well.  Jay was also always available to us by phone or email.  I'm sure he was sick of me at some point for calling him all the time! But he was always friendly and open to anything we needed or inquired about.  

Overall, our experience with On Side has been nothing less than amazing.

                 I am writing to express our appreciation for the handling of our insurance claim ******. In mid December 2010, our basement sustained heavy damage due to flooding.  We were fortunate to have our claim referred to On Side Restoration Company under the supervision of Alan Reyno.

                Throughout the lengthy process, Alan offered excellent guidance and advice and was consistently professional, efficient and dependable in his dealings with us.  He communicated with us constantly in a manner which was calm, confident and supportive and he proved an invaluable liaison between us and (our insurance company).  Although we were dealing with the stresses of Christmas, Alan assured us that his team would work quickly to remove and evaluate damaged items.  That proved to be the case. The situation also required power washing, dry walling, painting and carpeting.  We were very impressed with the courteous attitude of the workers and the manner in which Alan dealt with his team.  He checked to ensure that a high standard was maintained and that we were satisfied with each step of the process.  The workers always arrived on time and Alan kept to his schedule.

                In addition to our favourable impression of Alan, the employees seemed to have a strong respect for their project manager and his organized approach.  To quote one of his workers, “Alan is the best”!

In January we suffered a flood in our kitchen which damaged our hardwood floor and cabinets.  Several weeks ago On Side Restoration started repairing the damage to our kitchen.  Sean H. was assigned to remove and re-install our new cabinets. 

To say that we have been extremely impressed with Sean's professional work ethic would be an understatement.  Sean has worked very hard to ensure our cabinet installation is done correctly and with great attention to detail.  Sean has worked long hours and gone out of his way to make sure everything works and fits perfectly!  Yesterday (a sub-trade) started to install our new hardwood floor.  Sean went out of his way and showed up first thing in the morning (even before the hardwood installers arrived) to confirm with the installers that the base cabinets were installed correctly and to see if they needed any changes before the hardwood was installed.   It's fantastic to see a member of your team go "above and beyond" in their day to day work commitment.

On January 5^th, 2011 just after 5:00pm, I discovered a severe sewer backup, in the furnace room of my residence. The scene was horrific. The response of your company, particularly in this after working hours emergency, was outstanding. I was in touch with an adjuster shortly after 6:00pm. On Side Restoration people were in my basement shortly after 7:00pm. The rest of the mess was cleared away by 10:30pm.

The next day (my adjuster) and On Side Restoration were on site, continuing with their work. The damage went well beyond the furnace room, so it has taken some time to bring the finished basement back to where it was before the accident. However everything is in good order now.

Dear Mr. Reyno,

As you will see in the final report I sent in after completion of our restoration, my wife and I are terrifically impressed by your whole crew for their positive attitude and excellent, prompt work on our lovely Pender Island home.  Right from the start Todd was reassuring, intelligent and clear, and everyone who worked on the house was highly professional and competent. I was in New York at a meeting when the flood occurred and right off the top Todd explained the process that was to come--and he delivered.  We were in Vancouver during most of the process, and he provided progress reports and was always there for us to ask questions. It is important to have one person in charge to take care of the many details such a project demands, and Todd was the man.  Many others were so very positive, including the clean-up crew, whose captain's name I have forgotten, and who is a great guy.  At the end, when we feared some of my wife's irreplaceable DVD's that document her career as a dancer and choreographer had been lost, Lesley asked Everett about this and he remembered a conversation that he had had with me three months earlier about those DVDs and where he had put them.  And there they were.  He is generally a good guy, but this was just amazing.  He, Lesley and Todd went beyond what one might hope for, and we are grateful.  As you know, such floods provide great anxiety.  Therefore it was important to us that On Site was as good as it was.  You have a great reputation on Pender Island, and we can add to that.

Of course I hope that we never have to use your services again (as one feels about a surgeon!) But the place that is so important to us looks as good as new and we are grateful.

To Whom It May Concern

My name is Keith M. and my wife and I had a claim with our Insurance Company in which On Side Restoration did the work. This is the very first letter I have ever written to comment on the work which has been done at our homes, so please do not take this as an everyday occurrence for me. In this day and age you hear terrible stories of trade's people taking of advantage of the unsuspecting customers. Well I am here to tell you that On Side Restoration's Trades People did not. I have never been more satisfied with the professionalism and their attention to detail and trying to satisfy the customer. In particular a fellow named Bill N. Bill went beyond, what I feel was his regular duties to please my wife and I. We felt we were watching him work on his own home!.... The man deserves a raise!!

Both Deb and I were very impressed with your staff. Shaun and Shirley were the two that we had the most interaction with, and we both were impressed with the way they worked and the way that they presented themselves. When other people are going through your home it is a little unnerving, but they did not make us feel as if they were intruding, but as being there to help. I know there were others on the crew, but we just did not have as much interaction with them . That in no way means that they were any less appreciated, if the situation had been such, I am sure we could have made the same commendations.
