Experienced Remediation Technician – Kelowna

Compensation:  $25 – $30/ hour

Remediation Technician

When disasters happen, Remediation Technicians at On Side are truly on ‘your side’.  Asbestos and mould can pop-up anywhere and requires special knowledge and experience to deal with.  Remediation Technicians can perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and clients.

Remediation Technicians are responsible for:

• Ensuring a safe work area from asbestos and mould by knowing how to remove and remediate potential dangers from the work site
• Identifying and disposing of asbestos and mould contaminated materials

What you bring:

• 2+ years’ experience in abatement
• Disasters can strike at any time so availability to work a rotating On-Call schedule after work hours is a requirement
• Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
• Physically fit— remediation can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
• Friendly and enjoys working in a team!
• A safety-first mindset
• Disasters can strike at any time so must be available to partake in a rotating On Call schedule after hours
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of criminal record process (we do check)
• Ability to communicate in English

 Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn’t required:

• BC Level 2 Certification an asset
• Asbestos remediation ticket
• A background in demolition
• Construction experience

• Are you able to work a rotating after hours On-Call schedule as well as your daytime shifts?
• Do you have a valid drivers’ license and a vehicle to get on-site in case of emergencies when it’s your turn to be On-Call?
• Do you have 2+ years’ experience identifying and disposing of asbestos?
• Do you have 2+ years’ experience identifying and disposing of mould?
• Do you have 1+ year demolition experience?
• Have you ever worked with hazardous materials besides asbestos? Please describe.
• Do you have the knowledge and experience to deal with asbestos contaminated materials OR will you need to learn? Experienced or learning?
• Are you interested in growing with the company and learning other labour positions such as Water Damage Technician?
• Will you ensure cleanliness of site, vehicle, and tools?
• Do you have a strong attention to detail and the ability to follow the scope of work?
• Are you fluent reading / writing/ speaking English? If no, please rank your skills out of 10.
• Will you perform work following procedure and legislation?
