Journeyman Carpenter – Chemainus

Compensation: $39 – $44/ hour (full-time / permanent)

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team of Multi-Skilled Tradespeople. You will play a crucial role in our mission to rebuild and restore properties after a disaster.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for carpentry work and will lead your crew with your skills and abilities. Your leadership will be essential in getting properties back to their pre-disaster state. With at least 5 years of experience, this role is for someone who can bring their mastery of carpentry, drywall, and painting—along with a little bit of magic—to make our clients’ properties whole again.

What you bring:

• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
• Strong people and communication skills
• Interior carpentry repairs
• Ability to work well alone or in a team
• Experience working in construction environments
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• A safety mindset
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English

What you’re responsible for:

• Rough and trim
• Drywall repairs: drywalling, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Installation
• Doors
• Trim, moldings, and baseboards
• Hardware installation
• Cabinetry
• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Framing

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

• Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
• IICRC certification (restoration focus)
• WHMIS
• First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
