Drywaller – St. John’s

Compensation: $27 – $30/ hour (full-time / permanent)

The Job – Drywaller

Drywallers at On Side are important team members who help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes.
One moment it’s damaged drywall, the next it’s smooth perfection—drywallers make it feel like magic.

What you bring…

Drywallers bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done!’ attitude.
Additional abilities required include:

• 5+ years of drywall repair experience (measure, cut, install, and repair damaged drywall)
• Experience with restoration repairs (vs new build or renovation)
• Experienced in large loss installs
• Previous experience reading and executing work orders
• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
• Physically fit: able to do heavy lifting (moving materials) and long periods of kneeling/bending/crouching/reaching
• Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps/software)
• Experience working in construction environments with tools and the skills to use them
• Strong people and communication skills
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• A safety mindset
• Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

What you’re responsible for…
A drywaller is skilled in the following ways:

• Measuring, cutting and installing drywall sheets quickly and efficiently
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
• Estimate the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces, reviewing scopes, sketches and work orders
• Site preparation and protection

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

• Drywall Finisher and Plasterer ticket
• WHMIS
• First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
