Position Summary
As an Internal Estimate Drafter at On Side Restoration, your focus is simple and essential. You take the full picture of a project such as DokuSketch tours, project manager scopes, photos, and supporting documentation and turn it into a clear, accurate Xactimate estimate.
You are the link between what is captured in the field and how the work gets scoped and priced. By pulling together all available project details, you create estimates that reflect the true scope of work and help keep projects moving forward efficiently.
This role is all about attention to detail, strong interpretation skills, and the ability to organize complex information into a reliable, easy-to-follow estimate.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000
- Salary based on skills, qualifications and experience
- Annual Performance Incentive Bonus – Percentage of base salary subject to personal and company performance.

What you’ll do:
- Review DokuSketch tours, photos, and project documentation to fully interpret complex losses and scopes.
- Evaluate and validate Project Manager scopes; identify missing items, inconsistencies, or risks.
- Build detailed, accurate, and defensible Xactimate estimates for mid- to high-complexity restoration projects.
- Apply advanced knowledge of line items, assemblies, and repair methodologies.
- Ensure accuracy in measurements, quantities, labor application, and material selection.
- Maintain alignment with insurance carrier guidelines, company standards, and best practices.
- Proactively communicate discrepancies, scope gaps, and recommendations to Project Managers.
- Support the resolution of estimate revisions, supplements, and internal QA feedback.
- Ensure estimates are complete, well-organized, audit-ready, and review-ready.
- Maintain consistent documentation and file integrity within internal systems.
- Assist in mentoring Level 1 drafters, providing guidance on best practices and standards.
What you bring:
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Xactimate estimating software
- 5+ years experience working with Xactimate
- Xactimate Level 2 certification required; Level 3 an asset
- Ability to interpret DokuSketch tours, sketches, photos, and scope documentation at a high level of detail
- Advanced understanding of line-item selection, assemblies, and estimate structuring
Industry Knowledge
- 5+ years experience in property restoration estimating and project management (water, fire, mold, catastrophe, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of restoration construction methods and repair sequencing
- Solid understanding of insurance restoration workflows, carrier expectations, and compliance requirements
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and completeness
- Ability to manage multiple estimates with varying complexity and deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
