On-call premium and overtime paid for rotating coverage

Carpenter (Multi-Skilled Tradesperson)

Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a Multi-Skilled Tradesperson.

Responsible for…

The multi-talented Carpenter is skilled in the following ways:

• Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
• Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
• Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
• Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
• Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
• Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
• Insulation and vapour barrier installation
• Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
• Flooring installation and repairs
• Framing

What you bring

The Multi-Skilled Tradesperson brings a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done!’ attitude.

Additional abilities required include:

• 5+ years doing interior carpentry and interior home repairs
• Experience with installing flooring (wood, tile, laminate)

• Ability to complete all rebuild needed in a single location

• Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
• Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build
• Restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage)
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Strong people and communication skills
• A safety mindset
• Willingness to cross train into other departments
• Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software)
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

• Experience in restoration
• Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
• IICRC certification (restoration focus)
• WHMIS
• First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
