The Hazmat Laboratory Analyst oversees the daily asbestos laboratory activities in the Vancouver Branch and other locations and is primarily responsible for the analysis of asbestos samples submitted in-house. This role manages all incoming Hazardous Material Survey Reports and asbestos, lead, and mould test results in Western Canada, measuring them against On Side policies and legislative requirements. The Analyst interprets results, informs stakeholders through email and eclaim, and provides additional training and coaching to meet requirements.

What You’ll Do
- Analyze building materials for Asbestos fibres and provide test reports by following provincial regulations.
- Participate in Quality Control measures to ensure asbestos reports are accurate and communicated effectively.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained through daily inspections and corrective activities.
- Measure asbestos sampling against regulatory and On Side requirements, providing coaching and training to staff as needed.
- Receive, review, and interpret test results and hazardous materials survey reports for dissemination to relevant project stakeholders.
- Continuously review legislative requirements for asbestos testing and sample collection across provinces.
- Coordinate with approved laboratories, consultants, and engineers in Western Canada to ensure all testing results are reviewed and posted.
- Develop, arrange, and present training for employees to ensure an effective understanding of potential risks.
- Monitor, amend, and update the organization’s remediation manuals, exposure control plans, and risk assessments.
What You Bring
- Grade 12 education.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asbestos, lead, and mould abatement/remediation.
- WRT/AMRT certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of home/construction methodology and materials.
- IICRC Training and Certification preferred (e.g., Asbestos, Mold).
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety management and applicable federal, provincial, and municipal regulations.
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with database applications and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
